About Us
Prana Yoga Academy was established in early 2019 by Anil Kala with the vision of enriching society by training exceptional yoga teachers to meet the growing needs of the yoga community and its practitioners.
We initially focused on yoga teacher training programs, attracting mostly working professionals with full-time jobs. To accommodate their busy schedules, classes were thoughtfully scheduled in the early mornings and late evenings, allowing participants to seamlessly integrate yoga training into their daily lives. This flexible timing remains a hallmark of the academy, enabling an ever-growing number of enthusiasts to deepen their knowledge and practice of this ancient tradition.
After more than a year of successfully training yoga practitioners online and transforming them into skilled yoga teachers, we expanded our offerings to include offline courses and retreat programs. This shift came at a critical time when the world, emerging from the first wave of COVID-19, needed healing and community more than ever. Several batches were completed before the second wave—the most severe—temporarily halted offline operations.
However, online classes continued uninterrupted and remain a cornerstone of the academy to this day. During this period, yoga retreats and “yoga & travel” programs were also held in breathtaking locations such as Rishikesh and Ladakh. With the academy's primary location under construction, we are excited to resume all in-person programs around mid-2025 in Rishikesh. For those who cherish the blend of exploration and the comfort of personal growth, we look forward to welcoming you there soon!

About The Founder
Anil’s yoga journey began in 2014, inspired by personal health challenges—a back pain issue in 2013 and a digestion problem the following year. Turning to yoga for relief, he found not just healing but a lifelong passion and purpose. Since then, he has never looked back.
Early Life
Born in Bombay, Anil spent his early childhood in a village in Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. He completed his schooling up to the 10th standard in the village before moving to Dehradun for higher education. Anil graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from D.A.V. College, Dehradun.
Yoga Education
Anil pursued a Diploma in Yogic Science from Dehradun, followed by a Master’s degree in the same field. To explore yoga as a professional path, he completed a Yoga Teacher Training Course in Rishikesh. Additionally, he honed his practice in Ashtanga yoga, learning directly from its roots in Mysore.
Yoga Career
Anil’s professional journey began in 2015 while pursuing his diploma, when he opened his first yoga studio in Dehradun. In 2016, he joined the fitness brand Cult in Bangalore as a yoga trainer. As Cult expanded to Delhi NCR in 2017, Anil took on the role of leading the yoga format until 2019, after which he moved to Dubai to oversee the format there.
When the COVID-19 pandemic forced operations in Dubai to shut down, Anil returned to Bangalore and made a bold decision to start his own venture. In 2020, he launched his academy, initially offering online Yoga Teacher Training Courses. Later, he expanded to conducting residential programs in Rishikesh, including Yoga TTC, workations, and yoga retreats. Despite setbacks from the pandemic’s second wave, Anil continued with online classes and retreats, keeping his vision alive.
Vision
Anil dreams of building a yoga school that produces thousands of skilled teachers who can empower society through health education and yoga practice. This vision is set to become a reality in 2025, with the construction of his academy already underway.
Discovery of Yoga
Dhani's interest in yoga and spirituality developed in 2015 when he stumbled upon the lectures of Swami Vivekananda.
After realizing that the physical and spiritual sides of yoga only complement each other, he started the practice of yoga asanas in 2017.
Yoga Education & Career
Having practiced yoga for some time, in 2019 he decided to pursue a master's degree in the field. During this time, he started teaching yoga philosophy classes to the students of yoga teacher training courses at Prana Yoga Academy.
He went on to complete his master's degree and yoga teacher training in 2021. Since then, he has been training regular yoga practitioners and teacher training students in Hatha Yoga and Yoga philosophy in person and online.
